Have you ever found yourself stuck for hours or even days, unable to make progress in your writing? As a writer, I can assure you that writer's block can be a real source of frustration. This is where Jenni.AI comes into play. This AI-powered writing tool promises to supercharge (boost) your writing process and help you write faster. I tested it to provide you with my opinion and explain how it can be useful for you. Oh, and by the way, this Jenni review was written with the help of Jenni.

Getting Started

The Sign up Page

To start using Jenni, there's nothing easier. You just need to create an account on the platform and log in. Creating an account is straightforward—simply enter your name, email address, and choose a password. If you prefer, you can also log in through your Google account, making the process even simpler and more convenient. Once logged in, you are taken to the editing page where you can start your writing. On this page, you'll find adjustment buttons to customize the tool to your writing preferences. You can choose from 6 writing languages, including English and French. You can also choose the writing style and citation style from 4 options. I'll delve deeper into this feature later in the article. If you want to master the tool or simply have some difficulties using it, Jenni offers a user guide with videos to help you understand all the features of the tool.

How Does It Work?

The Editing Page

In practice, how does Jenni.AI works? This tool uses machine learning algorithms and natural language processing to analyze and understand the text you provide, generating real-time suggestions and improvements. As you write, Jenni provides suggestions in the form of sentences that appear in gray when you pause, and you can choose to either keep or ignore the suggested sentence. What impressed me about the suggestions is how consistent they are and how well they match the topic of your text. Notably, before you start writing, Jenni will ask you to specify your topic, based on which it will suggest an introduction when you begin writing. It's all very well-thought-out and intuitive. With the AI Commands function, you can generate entire sections of text based on what you have already written, such as an introduction, a counter-argument, and a conclusion. One feature that amazed me as a writer and that I mentioned earlier is the citation feature. This not only allows you to cite your own sources, previously saved on the platform, but it can also automatically find citations on the internet corresponding to the part of the text you want to cite. You can choose from 4 different citation styles (APA 7, MLA 9, Harvard, IEEE). On the subject of citations, there is also a plagiarism checker, so you can make sure your writing doesn't contain plagiarism. Another feature of Jenni that caught my attention is the ability to add images to your text. You can either choose from stock images in Jenni's database or add them using an embedded link. However, I found it unfortunate that there is no option to upload images directly from your device. Last but not least, your writing is automatically saved as you go, so you can interrupt at any time, close the page, and when you reconnect, you'll find your text where you left off. When you've finished your writing, you can choose to either copy your text to paste it elsewhere or export it in various formats, including Word.

Some Minor flaws

While a few drawbacks can be pointed out about Jenni, they are by no means deal-breakers. Firstly, Jenni's very minimalist interface can be considered a weakness. It's almost impossible to customize the appearance of the editing interface. It's entirely white, and some users might find it useful to have a dark mode, for example. Additionally, text formatting options are also very limited. You can't choose the font or text size, for example. Another important point, probably more related to my personal use and may not be considered a drawback for some, concerns the tool's main functionality, which is AI-assisted text generation and suggestion. I found it more useful for inspiration than for using the suggestions as they are. I would say I kept the suggestions without adjustment less than 10% of the time. But undoubtedly, the suggestions gave a great boost to my writing speed.

How Much Does It Cost?

The Subscription Page

Jenni can be used either for free or with a subscription. Among the advantages of the subscription, there are: Unlimited AI generation, AskJenni AI assistant, Unlimited citations, and Access to ChatPDF Plus. The Unlimited AI generation and Unlimited citations advantages suggest that in its free version, the number of text and citation generations you can make is limited. However, during the entire writing process of this article with Jenni, I was not confronted with a limit on text or citation generation. Nonetheless, these functions may be useful for those who need to write longer texts and make many citations. The ChatPDF Plus function, I think, could be very useful for academics as it allows you to discuss with your PDF documents. This means that an AI tool will analyze your article in the form of a PDF document and will answer questions you may ask it about the document. Jenni offers two subscription options: you can choose either a monthly subscription for $20 or an annual subscription for $144, which will save you 40% compared to the monthly subscription.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Jenni doesn't lack features to give a boost to the writing process of any writer. Its AI-assisted text suggestion function is particularly powerful, and the suggestions are most of the time very relevant and match the topic of your text. Jenni also offers a range of welcome features, such as being able to choose your writing language, a plagiarism checker and automatic citations. Although some drawbacks can be pointed out about the platform, I don't consider them deal-breakers. They mainly concern the very limited customization possibilities of the editor interface and the fact that some may find the inspiration provided by the suggestions more useful than the suggestions themselves. Jenni also exists in a paid version, but the free version was fully sufficient for me to write this article, and I believe it will also be sufficient for most users' needs.
